“My maternal grandfather was kicked out of Uganda in 1972 and came to the UK to restart his life. My father was sent to the UK in 1977, from Kenya, after his father passed away, to go and figure something out. In both cases, they had to adapt to their new surroundings, learn from others and were eventually able to carve out their own paths. This is why Apax’s value of “we learn, adapt and grow” most resonates with me as I saw first-hand how inspirational figures in my family grew in the face of adversity. As a result, this is how I try and approach challenges and opportunities in my life: a way to push myself even when I don’t have all the skills or information to succeed, because that is the way to grow.”
