Dr. Peter Englander, O.B.E. 1951-2023
Bio
Peter Englander, a former Partner with 30 years' service, retired from Apax in November 2011.
He joined the firm in 1981 when the first UK fund was raised and represented Apax Partners on the boards of over 20 portfolio companies including Asquith Court, Dr Solomon's, Eyretel, QXL and Waterstone. Overall, he has been associated with nine IPOs and 19 trade sales for Apax portfolio companies.
Peter was a founding Trustee of the Apax Foundation and its first CEO (2006-2016) and then Co-CEO (2016-2023). He personally funded the Foundation in its early years, alongside the Firm, to help it become one of the largest foundations in the private equity industry.
He was also a Trustee of the Kennedy Memorial Trust and a member and then Chair of the Bridges Fund Management Board.
